After spending much time viewing and considering the Jeanne Verdoux exhibition: Mr. Bones and Friends - a few of our Art Lab participants wrote their own art reviews:

What I like about this one is Mrs. Bones. What I don't like is the dead bird. I like Mrs. Bones's dress. I like her hair. I also like her face. Mrs. Bones makes me happy and the dead bird makes me feel gross.

We started this year looking at the Samuel Bak Exhibition and making our own Shofars( a horn that rings in the New Year for Rosh Hashanah) and also worked on Illuminated Letter pages. New this year  the students are invited to lead a project and Jacob did the first one- making paper characters and performing an impromptu play.

Good bye to planting and Hello to Harvesting!

In addition to a wonderful summer camp we also introduced a new program that started in the spring, flourished in the summer and will continue into the fall, called Art and Gardening. Students, after school kids and anyone who is interested can come for a tour of our greenhouse and organic garden and then do a cool project. Participants will make field guides, go on scavenger hunts, make sprouted seed necklaces and terrariums and much more. Our Experimental Art Lab this fall will do such a program on our first day- which is right around the corner- next week on Monday Au

gust 26th from 4-5 pm.

This summer we had a wonderful at our Urban Art Summit mini immersion Art Camp where we did Spoken Word Poetry, got some air time on WXAC Radio, learned and performed some rad hip-hop dances and worked on cigar box art. Here are some cool pix.
